Life is full of stories, eh?
Sometimes it reaches you as a funny stories that were being recorded on phone and sometimes it about a true story that someone personally shares with you.
This time it is the turn of immigration authorities of Singapore. They have one of the best and true funny stories that will surely make you giggle.
What happened with them?
It was a regular day for the officers at the border checkpoint until a man arrived in car. Everything looked pretty normal because everyday thousands of immigrants cross the border that Singapore shares with its neighbour Malaysia.
But there was something strange about the man. As the officers were checking his vehicle and the passengers travelling with him, one of them heard something. It was a meowing sound.
As the officers didn’t see any cat in the vehicle, they grew suspicious.
So, where were the cats?
When the officers couldn’t determine the source of the noise, they thought to question the man about the meowing noise. That’s when one of the authorities spotted that the crouch area of the man’s trouser had a huge bulge.
Yes, you guessed it right. He was smuggling four kittens from Malaysia to Singapore in his trousers. Before the immigration authorities could ask the man to confirm it, one of the kittens secreted in his trousers confirming its presence.
The reaction of officers
The officers had caught people smuggling cigarettes and other illegal items but smuggling kitten is something they came across for the very first time. They laughed off thinking what the man was thinking by putting live kittens in his trousers.
Thankfully, no harm was done to the kittens and they are alive and well in the quarantine area of Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority.
This funny incident gave a good laugh to the immigration officers present there and also made sure that they have one of those true stories that they can share with people and make them laugh like crazy.
But why did he stuff kittens in his trouser?
As of now, the officers haven’t received any answer from the man who was trying to smuggle kittens. All they can speculate is the fact that he might be doing so to sell them as pets in the markets of Singapore.
Currently, the man has been charged and if he is proven guilty, he will have to face up to a year in prison along with a fine of Sg$10,000 that is approximately around 7,300 dollars.
The law of Singapore regarding pets
The thing is, there is a very strict law regarding pets in Singapore, especially if it’s a cat. If you want to bring it legally inside Singapore borders, you need to have an import licence and health certificate.
This is done in regulation with the health protocols because the authorities warn that the cats might contain diseases like rabies.
In Conclusion:
I don’t know what the intentions of that man were, but one thing is clear that he was dumb enough to put kittens in his trousers thinking that he’ll be able to smuggle them without getting noticed by anyone. He was downright stupid.
Anyway, good for him. At least he gave of those true stories that the immigration officials will laugh on, for many coming days.
What about you? Have any funnier smuggling ideas?
